Serving our Country? You are Absolutely Fabulous!

Happy 4th of July tomorrow!  To all of you who serve our United States of America so faithfully, here's a THANK YOU card for you - you ARE absolutely fabulous!

I followed a Mojo Monday sketch for this card and love how it turned out!  The 'stitches' are just paper pierced holes with fine marker lines connecting them.  For the flower, I layered 2 scallop circles and cut between the petals.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Absolutely Fabulous, Itty Bitty Backgrounds (both retired)
Ink:  Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
Paper:  Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake DSP (retired)

Chalked Daisies in Valentine Colors

I love this daisy image - I miss this retired stamp set!  For this Valentine card, I stamped the image with VersaMark ink and then used sponge daubers to chalk the image before it dried.  I like the blended, impressionistic look!  And seam binding gives it just the right touch - love how it ties into such soft, drapey bows.

The card base was cut from 12x12" cardstock into 6x6" pieces and folded in half.  The 3x6" cards fit in a common small letter envelope.

Warm Valentine Treats for a Cold Winter's Day!

Looking for a cute Valentine treat for those you love?  How about some hot chocolate and a peppermint stick?  Yes, I realize it's really a Christmas candy cane in disguise - but it was all I could find at the time!  And it's RED.  I think it will do the job!

We made these at my CLOclub class last week.  They went together pretty quickly!  The pink layer on the left was diecut and embossed, then sanded - love that Core-dinations paper with the lighter core!  A strip of red Glimmer Paper was added for a little pizzazz.  The Designer Series Paper was punched, and the hearts were stamped and diecut with Framelits - then topped off with a pearl.  The pocket was double punched on the right, ribbon threaded through to create a loop for the peppermint stick, and the bow holds it securely in place.  In goes the hot chocolate packet and you have a tasty treat for guys and gals alike!

One LAST Christmas Card???

So ... it's still December ... can I get away with showing you one more Christmas card?? I hope so! I had so much fun making this one.  I was inspired a whole year ago by Dawn Olchefske when she made THIS card.  So I had to try it!  We made this card at the November CLOclub meeting.  Take a look ...

Here's a closeup of the details like the Seam Binding ribbon and the Dazzling Details, both in Cherry Cobbler:

And I'm making an effort to decorate the inside of my cards, too:

Squares are IN(color)!

I'm on a roll with squares this week!  This card uses the 2011-13 IN Colors, a traditional square punch as well as a corner rounder . . .

The little flower motifs were hand-cut and the seam binding ribbon was folded in half and finger pressed.  I CASEd this from Mary Brown because I thought it was such a pretty way to showcase the IN Colors.  And I like making this size cards every so often just to get out of my A2 rut!  This card is the perfect size for your 12x12 paper, because it starts with a 6x6 square!  Hey, another SQUARE!
