Hello Doily: Wedding Invitations

I hope you enjoyed seeing Kylie's wedding Save the Date cards!  We used her initial ideas to design the wedding invitation - love how it turned out!

The 'labels' were printed out first on Naturals Ivory - spaced out to leave room for the Apothecary Accents die to cut each one - then I ran each one through the Big Shot using that die to perfectly cut out each label!  I used a hole punch to make a place for the ribbon to be threaded through, and paper pierced the edges of every label.

All the printing was done in Early Espresso - you can adjust the font color in Word by giving it the correct RGB code for the color you want.  Just search online for "Stampin' Up! RGB codes" and you'll see what I mean!  Perfect font and print color to perfectly match the cardstock!!

Voile!  Awesome invitations suitable for a queen . . . Queen Kylie!

Upsy Daisy . . . Sponged

More daisies for you today!  I experimented on this Upsy Daisy card a bit - I sponged the image with Soft Suede ink (sponge dauber and ink pad) and So Saffron reinker (on a sponge dauber), added some background splatters with a stamp, and sponged an amethyst sky.

I added buttons and paper piercing and sponged edges for a bit more detailing.

It's Coming - the Day of Gratitude!

What a day it will be - that day of gratitude!  Here in the U.S., we celebrate our Thanksgiving Day next Thursday.  But your day of gratitude can be ANY day, any time.

My card today was inspired by a creation I saw on Bada-Bing! Papercrafting - I gave it my own twist and here is the 'thank you' card I came up with!

And yes, thanks to Kay Kalthoff reminding us . . . I am trying to decorate the INSIDE of my cards, too!

Comfort Cafe Cravings

These crisp days of autumn just make me want to curl up on the couch at my favorite coffee cafe and read a good book!  Maybe that's why my MOST favorite Designer Series Paper in the Stampin' Up! catalog is "Comfort Cafe" - a collection of warm, cozy earthy prints that just seem to comfort me the way my caramel cappuccino does!

 

How's this for a cozy combination?  And I LOVE that it uses up some of my growing collection of paper strips and scraps!  The homey texture given by the wooden button is the perfect touch.

Missin' my favorite Typewriter stamp ...

I remember the 'old days' but probably not further back than electric typewriters!  I was too little to actually use the manual version - but even so, I still love the look ... and I miss this retro typewriter stamp a lot now that it is retired.  So in honor of the old days, I am sharing this card with you today!

 

That's real dictionary paper in the background - I keep a book around just for crafting!  I cut it to size, wadded it up into a ball (yes, I know ... it hurts, but it has to be done!), flattened it out, and inked the edges roughly with a sponge.  Be careful to get it fastened where you want it the first time - it dosn't like to be repositioned!

I changed up the Crumb Cake for So Saffron - I like this look, too!

KIDS . . . really DO graduate!

Before I knew it, my sons were graduating . . . 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011 . . . and even college graduation in 2010!  There are more coming up, hopefully, and I love every moment of the celebrations.

I also work full time in a college, so I get to see 'my kids' there graduate on a regular basis.  Each year, I make up grad cards in school colors.  The Center-Step technique seemed just right for this year's card:

The scoring and cutting were done at 1" width increments.  The paper strips were cut in 3/4" widths.  And a little faux stitching framed up the focal point.

I ended up needing a few more cards real quick, so put this one together using my scraps:

GUY Week: Seafaring MEN

There's just something about a ship that says strength, constancy, stability, dependability.  Remind you of any of the men in your life?  Thankfully, I am blessed to say 'yes' to that!  My dad, my father-in-law, my husband, and my four grown sons are all men for which to be grateful - and I am!

I think this card depicts strength and stability - a firm anchor in an unpredictable world!

The ship is stamped and cropped with the Extra-Large Oval punch and matted with the Decorative Label punch.  The light gray panel edges are distressed to give it that aged feel, and after the anchor was stamped, I paper-pierced a line of holes upward and connected them with a Basic Gray marker to resemble chain links.

Inside these cards, I used birthday and thank-you sentiments to show appreciation to the guys in my life.  I like how they turned out!

DOstamperSTARS Creative Challenge: Teabag Card

I decided to enter this teabag card for the August Creative Challenge among the DOstamperSTARS demonstrators:

AND I had the honor of having my project voted the #1 favorite!  Wow - how cool is that?!
This was one of the projects made during the July meeting of my CLOclub.  The club hostess for that month asked if we could make a teabag card, and this is what I came up with!  Super simple - here is the supply list and instructions!

 

Instructions:

Card base: cut Soft Suede 3.5" x 11".  Simply Score at 3.5", 7", and 7.5".  Fold at each score line - on the inside, the right-hand fold creates the triangular pocket, so cut off the upper right corner so you have just a triangle folding over.  Attach this along the bottom using Sticky Strip.
Layers:  I used Summer Starfruit (3.25" square, out and inside), Cajun Craze (3" square, inside), Very Vanilla (2 7/8", inside), and Comfort Cafe DSP (3" outside, 3" cut in half for inside pocket).
Stamping inside:  ink up stamp using markers (Summer Starfruit, Cajun Craze, Soft Suede).  Stamp in lower left corner, then paper pierce around but not through image (I skipped some piercing holes to avoid the image and help it stand out).  Work on the Vanilla layer before mounting it - once you are done, attach it inside the card, and avoid putting adhesive on the pierced holes.
Stamping outside: Ink up image using same markers, stamp, and punch with 1 3/8" circle punch.  Layer on top of Cajun Craze punched 1 3/4" scallop circle.
Ribbon:  cut 22"-24" of Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin ribbon. Wrap around card and tie in bow.  Attach scallop circle with Dimensionals, using one above ribbon and one below ribbon so ribbon still slides freely, but is held in position.  You may want to cut the Dimensionals in half.
