Saturday Morning Videos: Birthday Box Topper

Good morning and welcome to Saturday Morning Cartoons Videos!  Since I've been featuring birthday cards recently, I thought you might like to see this video tutorial on making a Gift Box Topper!

Click on the Pic . . .

(Email readers go to my BLOG to see this!)

In this video, Brian shows you how to create a cute gift box topper featured on page fifteen of our 2013-2014 annual catalog. This would be a great way to dress any gift and make it even more special.

We are going to start at the top and work our way down. The first think you'll see is our Pool Party Seam Binding tied together with some of our linen thread. The next layer down features some of our card stock punched out with our 1 ¾" Scallop Circle Punch. To get the faux suede look just distressed the paper until it starts to separate and then gently pull the layers apart.

The next layer down is some of our Designer Series Paper that has been cut with the Designer Rosette Bigz L Die using the Big Shot. This die is an easy way to make rosettes and you can customize their size by trimming your paper and making a narrower piece. For this project, we cut the paper to about one inch and one-fourth inch from the top of the scallop. Then we just alternated folds along the scored lines and secured it together with a little sticky strip.

The next layer uses one of our Tea Lace Doilies. We wanted our circle to be a little smaller, so we cut out a small slice and then teased in the middle to make the circle smaller. We then added back in the cut slice to complete the circle. The good news is that you don't have to worry about what the middle looks like because it will be hidden by these other layers.

For the bottom later, we used our Creped Filter Paper. Again we wanted to make the circle a little smaller and add some texture so we cut through to the center and, using the Tea Doily as a guide, we worked in some folds. We used two of the Creped Filter Paper circles to complete this layer.

We secured the layers with hot glue and put them on top of one our Kraft Gift Boxes wrapped in some Designer Series Paper. We've also added a greeting tag that features the You're Amazing stamp set.

Have fun creating this fun gift topper. For more great ideas on how to take your paper crafting to the next level, contact me, Cheryl Owczarek ~ your Stampin' Up! demonstrator ~ or visit www.stampinup.com.

Birthday Treats for YOU!

Seems like I'm always needing little gift bags for some occasion or another.  I am really sad the Fancy Favor die was retired this year - I use it a LOT!  Glad I have it.

And I love the  little 3x3" cards - so much cuteness on one little card!

I hope this inspires you to have some little cards and gift bags ready for your OWN celebrations!

Birthday Wishes and Dainty Details

Since I'm on a Birthday roll, here are a couple cards I created for birthdays and other special occasions.  I followed a simple sketch I found online - LOVE sketches for the framework they provide! - and added a few of my own touches.

Saturday Morning Videos: Totally STUCK on my NEW Magnetic Platform!

UPDATE from Stampin' Up!:

MAGNETIC PLATFORM TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE

July 15, 2013
Due to an unfortunate backorder situation, the Big Shot Magnetic Platform (item 130658) will be temporarily turned off Thursday, July 18, at 12:01 AM (MT). This means that you and your customers won't be able to buy it until further notice. While we're thrilled to be offering a product that you and your customers clearly like, we regret not being able to anticipate just how much you would like it. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Here are answers to some of the questions you might have:
Why are you doing this?We went through what we thought would be a 13-week supply of the Magnetic Platform in just three weeks, and rather than continuing the backorder situation for you and your customers, we believe it's best to make it unavailable for purchase until we can replenish our inventory. Our supplier is working at capacity to meet our demand, and we will continue working closely with them to get the situation addressed as quickly as possible.
When will the Magnetic Platform be available?
We expect that it will be available early fall.
What if I already ordered it when it was on backorder?
We'll fill all closed backorders as we get more Magnetic Platforms in. We are receiving periodic shipments from our vendor and as soon as they come in we'll fulfill orders in the approximate order they were received.

Remember, you have until Thursday, July 18, at 12:01 AM (MT) to close current Magnetic Platform orders (or make a new one); all of these placed orders will be on backorder.

Good morning and welcome to Saturday Morning Cartoons Videos!   I recently received my NEW Magnetic Platform for the Big Shot - and I LOVE this thing!  Wow, the Framelits really stick to it - they sit still right where I put them.  More than I can say for some kids - ha!  No need for sticky notes any longer, thank goodness!  Take a look ... this is the platform up close, and the video shows it in action!

Pretty Paper Folding

I love new techniques - especially when they are EASY!!  I received this pretty birthday card from fellow-demonstrator Gayle.  I loved it and knew I'd want to CASE it real soon!

Isn't the folded focal point cool? And it is super easy.  Just take a 4" square of Designer Series Paper, fold it in half each way, unfold it totally and then fold each corner in to the center so the points meet - and lastly fold each of those corners back out a little bit.  Embellish the center and attach the whole thing to your card using Dimensionals.  Here is my version, which I presented at one of my CLOclub classes:

I think Summer may have finally arrived in Minnesota - at least, I'm banking on that.  And ice cream cones just naturally go with summer, right?!  I created this card soon after the 2011-13 In Colors were introduced - and now they are all included in the Stampin' Up! Collections except Lucky Limeade (sniff!).  Don't they look yummy together?!

And if you think these In Colors are yummy, take a look at the NEW In Colors - I will post cards using these colors in the near future!

Are you Packed for BABY?

Hello!  I hope you are well today.  I think the summer schedule and the weddings I'm working on have all caught up with me - I haven't posted for you in a few days!  So sorry about that.

I'm getting this card ready to send out to Joey and Emily and their sweet little baby Elise!  She's definitely a keeper ... and this card is definitely quick and cute!

I stamped the panel once in the middle, and then once above and once below.  The sentiment panel is popped up with Dimensionals and the ribbon is fastened with Gluedots.

You could use any background stamp for any occasion and make a focal panel out if it!

'Wanderlust' CLEAR stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Meet the newest member of the CLEAR photopolymer stamp set family ... 'Wanderlust' ... the best clear set yet from Stampin' Up! in my humble opinion!  Take a look at all the cool images:

From Stampin' Up!:  Our top-quality photopolymer has just enough give to create a perfectly stamped image every time and with the introduction of our firm-foam pads, let's just say they're meant for each other! Photopolymer stamps will also be unique, fun designs that will inspire you and provide more versatile options you may not see in our traditional wood- and clear-mount stamp options.

What makes them so great?
  • They're entirely transparent for perfect placement every time!
  • They are durable. The photopolymer material is designed to last.
  • Can you say sticky? (Don't worry; in a good way.) These stamps stick amazingly well to our clear blocks.
  • They're age tested. They won't yellow or cloud up over time.
  • We could go on, but we'll let you try them for yourself.
They are clearly a great choice.  And so is 'Wanderlust' - order it today from my Online Store!
